PA Team at Bush Radio
PA Team at Bush Radio
09/12/2009
A team of four people from Public Achievement is currently in Cape Town, South Africa, working with the fabulous
Bush Radio
. Staff members Debs and Caoimhe are accompanying Nathan (Shiv) and Una from the WIMPS Crew on a visit which will link our 'Away from Violence' projects in Northern Ireland to projects that Bush is running with young people in Cape Town. They've set up a blog and you can follow their adventures
here
.
Public Achievement's
'Away from Violence'
project works with young people across Northern Ireland. Through it - and the parallel
'Breaking the Cycle'
project, we are working with young people to identify the ways in which they experience violence in their everyday lives, and helping them to develop alternatives to violence and avoidance as responses to conflict.
Earlier this year, the Lloyds TSB Foundation for Northern Ireland gave Public Achievement funding to support Bush Radio to run a parallel project -
Away from Violence South Africa
. Now staff members Debs Erwin (Youth Work Manager) and Caoimhe Connor (Civic Educator - Breaking the Cycle) have headed off to Cape Town with Una and Shiv from the WIMPS Crew. They are keeping a
blog
on their visit, working with
Bush Radio
this week, and participating in the 'Media Kidocracy Konference' next week - which will bring together all of the young people involved in AfVSA project.
We are looking for support for this project on an ongoing basis - if you are interested in getting involved, please email
Debs
