Once dubbed 'the most dangerous woman in Britain',
WIMPS
gets an exclusive interview with Shami Chakrabarti, the Director of Human Rights organisation
Liberty
, about young people and their human rights.
Shami is one of the most prominent spokespersons for human and civil rights in the UK today. During her interview with
WIMPS
she talks about the range of human rights issues facing young people - including the use of
'Mosquito'
devices to remove young people from public spaces. She praises WIMPS as an example of the kind of project that young people need to be involved in if they are to successfully address the threats to their rights.
Shami was in Northern Ireland as a guest of the
British Counci
l - and was the final speaker in a series designed to mark the 75th Anniversary of the British Council. This is also the 75th year of
