Public Achievement’s new WIMPSmobile has just been launched by Minister for Social Development, Margaret Ritchie MLA. In spite of the rather poor weather at the moment, a break in the clouds allowed us to show the Minister the vehicle and the new equipment that comes with it.
The Minister said “This project provides an excellent opportunity for young people to make their views known and influence future policies that directly impact upon them. I was interested in local politics from a young age and I am only too pleased to give our young people a chance to be heard. Too often, policy makers fail to take young people’s needs and views into account. The ‘WIMPS mobile’ is the perfect medium for this technical age.”
You can find our
press release
on the event here, and we will have some footage of the launch on WIMPS shortly.
The vehicle is travelling across Northern Ireland allowing us to make high quality films with young people in their communities. The equipment will also support the work of the WIMPS Crew – young people who produce much of the site content including the fortnightly news ‘WIMPScasts’.
The project also allows us to generate income through the selling of media services – you can find out more about those
