WIMPSmobile On The Road

Thanks to funding from the Department for Social Development, we have just taken delivery of 'The WIMPSmobile' - our six-seater van equipped with the latest in video and multi-media technology.  The project was funded by the Department's Modernisation Fund, and means that we can take very high end equipment to help young people create films about important issues in their communities.

One of the first films we finished with the new equipment was a short piece on young people, human rights and policing, which was presented to the Policing Board on 10 June (currently viewable on the homepage or in the media section).  This work will continue and we will also be making films with young people right across Northern Ireland on a range of other issues.

In Belfast, we will also be able to offer a broadband connection, thanks to a partnership with iBurst - where we are testing the technology designed for vehicles and public sector usage.  This means we can work with young people anywhere in the city and have a reliable internet connection so they can do research or upload resources onto the WIMPS site.
