WIMPS - 'Where Is My Public Servant?' is our website project run by and for young people. The site is the only one of its kind. It allows young people through a post-code search, to identify their elected representatitives at European, Westminster, Northern Ireland Assembly and Local District Council level. The site was given an award by the Council of Europe at the end of 2005.
In 2006 the site underwent a major re-design, incorporating the latest in web based technology. This includes embedded video created by young people - including films about issues they feel are important, and video interviews conducted with leading politicians. In 2008, we will be introducing a new multi-lingual version of the site, and working with partners around the world to create versions of WIMPS in other countries.
The best testimony for WIMPS is the site itself, and the voices and work of young people that it contains - so be sure to visit and check back reguarly for updates! Latest campaigns include the efforts of 108 young people to have a Youth Assembly established, and a campaign to have the voting age in Northern Ireland reduced to 16.
